Product Description
This is a great tool for the potter. With the extruder you will be able to create new, innovative and more creative works.
It is also a great tool for production, need a couple hundred feet of mug handles, no problem!
The extruder is of steel construction with the exception of the plunger plate which is cut from high density polyethylene. The extruder barrel is 4" square and holds aprox. 12 lb's of clay. Overall dimensions of the extruder with the handle removed is 36" x 9" x 6".
Extruding is near effortless due to the incredible leverage from the 3' long handle.
The 4" square extruder size is very common and is offered by many manufacturers, there dies will fit just fine. Dies are of course easy and quick to make from sheet metal, wood or plastic. When you make your own die shapes you are only limited by your imagination.
Included are 4 extruder dies with chamfered openings. 3 of the dies produce small geometric shapes, (4 each and includes a steel mask plate to block off all but 1 opening to minimise waste). 4th die makes test tiles, perfect for experimenting with kiln settings and glazes.

Decent extruder for the price

The product arrived promptly and is built heavy duty. The directions to put it together could have been better but it wasn’t too challenging to work out. The level of finishing isn’t as good as the pricier extruders but it’s half the price, maybe less so this one wins hands down in my book. Using the spider for the hollow dies took some trial and error but I think I have it figured out. The dies are great, both the ones that came with the extruder and the hollow circle set purchased separately.

Gets the job done

This extruder gets the job done for me. I will need to order more dies, but that is about it.
There was a good amount of grease inside, so I used a plastic bag in the hopper on the 2nd go round. No more machine grease in my clay.

Great price for a well-built product

Interesting lever mechanism. At first I wondered if the clay would get stop-and-start marks, but no, the lever is effortless to use and the clay comes out smooth. Within a few minutes I was able to master the lever, which is also very simple to install and remove for cleaning. Love the depth of the clay receptacle—holds a good amount of clay. And the dies are high-quality. Very happy with this purchase.

1st time extruder

The extruder and dies arrived in a timely fashion from Canada in good condition. It took me about an hour to get it installed on a 4 x 4 post we had put into place in the studio.
For a new extruder user, it might be helpful to put up a short YouTube video walking you through the installation and perhaps a brief demo of using it as well.
So far, after testing the two handle dies, we're very satisfied.
And do use the clay fresh from the bag for ease of extruding - lesson learned!

The extruder was as described and is well build and should give excellent service. While I haven't used it yet there is no reason that it should not work well. Assembly was easy any the instructions while sparse were right on. Ad soon as I get time I will put it to the test.

T.A. Metalworks was very responsive via email correspondence. Delivery from Canada was within five days of purchase. Did not give top rating as I have not had a chance to use the extruder. Easy to set up, appears very durable and sturdy. Price beats most other manufacturers selling on the internet. Would recommend product to others.
